The whole process

Everything leading up to your wedding
Before any contracts are signed or retainers are paid, I get to know what's most important to you. Not just when it comes to photos, but also the things that are important in your relationship, in your families, and in your life. Why? Well, I want to know that I'm the right photographer for you, first, but also getting to know who you are as individual people, who you are as a couple, your family dynamics, and your goals for the future, helps me know what moments to anticipate or look out for on the actual wedding day.
The wedding industry LOVES to turn two people in love into one homogeneous blob, but in reality you are two individuals with whole lives behind you, family histories that may not always be idyllic, and priorities that may not always perfectly align. The real life stuff is what I care about as a documentary photographer.
Now, I do know that life happens and things change. After we make things official, I'll continue to be available to help with the logistics and I never leave an email/text left on read for more than a day or two, and that's only during my busiest season. Finally, I'll check in around a month before the wedding (the time that sh*t gets real) to make sure I still know your top priorities and that I have all the information I need to make everything feel smooth and seamless on the wedding day.

The way I work during your wedding or elopement
My photography style relies on candid moments and, while I'd love to just be a fly on the wall, I know I need to make everyone feel comfortable to get great candids. Being some silent observer in the corner doesn't really achieve that. Instead, I'll chit chat, maybe crack some little jokes, say hi to any pets you may have brought along (I'm a big animal lover), and generally act like I'm just hanging out with some new friends - I just happen to have a camera, too! My goal is to make sure that everyone feels a bit more relaxed so that, when the camera goes up, I'm not just that random stranger with a camera.
That doesn't mean that I'll be “your new BFF” but I'm also not going to be stone-cold and emotionless. There's a sweet spot between professional and chill and when I'm in that spot, I know I can capture some amazing moments.
OK, but what if something goes wrong and you're stressed? No problem! I am probably best known for my calm demeanor and I shine under pressure. Something I don't talk about often is that I volunteered for a mental health crisis hotline for nearly 5 years (which included the pandemic). I've been in some of the most tense situations and I know how to keep my tone calm and caring while also looking for ways to move forward. And while I always hope for the best on a wedding day, if it comes to it, I know exactly how to deal with a crisis.

What to expect after your wedding
Within a week, I'll send you a few little sneak peeks of some of the key moments from your wedding, along with an estimate for how long the rest of the photos will take. In general, it takes me about 4-5 weeks to edit and deliver your full wedding gallery. That can vary a bit, depending on the time of the year (busy wedding season vs slower winter season) but you usually won't wait more than a month for your photos. Contractually, I do give myself up to 9 weeks to deliver your gallery but that's really just an in-case-of-emergency deadline. Knock on wood, but I've never actually needed those full 9 weeks in the 10 years I’ve been photographing weddings.
Your photos will be delivered using a secure online gallery that allows you to download, favorite, and share your photos easily. You'll receive high-resolution images, along with the option to download social-media-sized versions for sharing online (if that’s what you’re into). And no, there won’t be any obnoxious watermarks on any of your photos. While you can order prints through your online gallery, you are welcomed to download and print the photos yourself, as well. The photos are yours to use and share as you wish.

What you really came here for
I know that cost is often a concern and it can feel like the wedding industry intentionally hides pricing information so that they can overcharge you. For me, at least, the reality is that there are so many variables that can affect pricing that I prefer to give custom quotes based on exactly what you're looking for, rather than a bunch of "packages" that may include things you don't want, or exclude things that you need.
Just to give you a general idea, though, most couples spend between 7-10k for all-day coverage for a weekend wedding. My preference is all-day coverage because it allows me time to properly tell your story from beginning to end. That said, I know that for more intimate weddings and elopements, all-day coverage can be overkill. For smaller weddings, most couples spend anywhere between 3-5k.
